We are a very ambitious bunch. We meaning: Will McCarry, Billy Bacci, Jimmy McGrath, and myself. Collectively, we have been part of five separate bands over the last four years, not to mention our own personal side-projects. But all that has finally come together. We have finally settled on the name ‘Violent Blue‘. Not only that, but we also have our first song up over on our Facebook page to prove it! Titled “Polaroid” it’s the first track we’ve released off our upcoming Yeah. Right. EP. Go check it out, become a fan, and give us your thoughts!
Some readers may remember that we were running under the tentative band name “Chasing Lilly” for the past few months. In fact, that’s the reason this site is named what it is (despite being a cool LOST reference, of course). We’ll get the EP out sometime this summer, and expect us to be playing some shows as well. We’ll keep ya posted!
So far we only have a Facebook page, but we’ll be getting a Myspace music page up soon as well. Jimmy was cool enough to make a video for the Polaroid song using pictures from our travels over the past year. Clever… using pictures to show a song titled “Polaroid”… intentional? Probably not. Ah well, check that out below as well:
In other news, we had to make a short educational video this week for Digital Storytelling class using only free-to-use videos from the Prelinger archive on the Internet Archive. We chose the topic of “phishing” and agreed that my group would write a short script and record voice-overs, and I would edit the whole film together. The video below is the culmination of this effort. You’ll notice the voice overs are rather blown out volume-wise, but the bad audio, combined with the guys at times funny-sounding voice I figured were worth keeping and funny by itself. Enjoy:
You may be wondering where my digital story is? You know, that one about me being a character from LOST actually in the show blogging about it? Along with video? Well I’ve run into some big roadblocks with that idea, and may be forced to take up my secondary idea. Don’t worry, it still deals with LOST, just not in the same way. We’ll see, though. Keep watching the blog.
Lastly, we’d like to apologize for not being able to upload last week’s Dark Territory LOST Podcast. For those three of you who listen to it, we are sorry.
If it will allow us to without problems, we’ll sill try uploading it. We’ll also have a podcast for this week’s Richard Alpert-centric LOST episode, “Ab Aeterno” (which means “from the beginning” or “from eternity” in Latin). That’s all for now!
Happy Trails,
Sam.

Yeah, I know this is just spam and not a real comment, but it was so funny I just had to approve it!
Uh, not sure if you guys realize this, but “The Violent Blue” has been around for about 13 years. It’s Angelo DelSenno’s band, a famous musician from Seattle. So you guys might want to change your name. haha
Hey guys….I live in Seattle….grew up here, heavily in the music scene…and there has NEVER been a band called Violent Blue and that joke of a self-proclaimed “muscian” Angelo Delsenno is a complete no-name, no talent that is just one of the hundereds of wanna-bes in this city that can barely play a guitar …go ahead and try and find ANYTHING on this looser and his famous band…and apparently he also goes by the alias “John Carter” lol…..ignore this punk and keep up the good work! Good Luck!!!
Uh… I was looking for the violent blue’s next show, and you guys came up. The Violent Blue is from Seattle, they play at the Comet Tavern on April 2nd, as well as the triple door on the 26th. Why are you guys taking their name? That is so weird
Clearly they are taking your name on purpose. They clearly did it just to piss you off, Sandi Marsen, or should I say Angelo Delsenno aka John Carter. Last time i checked THIS Violent Blue shows up on the top hits on Google. Where are you? page one billion? probably.
Furthermore id like to point out that Violent Blue from Leesburg VA owns the domain name ViolentBlue.net. what do you own? nothing. plus just listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9POG00VxQY
if this is your band i suggest that you never comment on this blog again because you are literally such a horrible musician.
Hey, one of my friends told me about this band. I also read the comments said about me, and did some research of my own. First of all, everyone has a right to express their opinion, whether it be about me, or my band. Some people love my music, some people hate it. That is fine. I first and foremost am a songwriter, and most musicians in Seattle know that. Which means rarely do I perform, if I do, it’s for a charity gig. I pay my bills by writing songs, and selling them to record labels, and bands. The band Violent Blue, (or should I say the original band) was a band that came out of Long Beach, California, back in 1986. Greg Jamison, the drummer, was a well known studio musician, and Mike Walsh, (who ended up playing keyboards for Sonvolt, and Uncle Tupelo) left the band to form a solo project. Bottom line is, the “original” Violent Blue started a long time ago, and together they put out a total of 5 studio albums, along with 2 live performance albums, according to ASCAP and BMI. That being said, we are both infringing on copyright, and probably at some point need to change our names. My band is called “The Violent Blue”, your band is called “Violent Blue”. The only difference is “The”. At any rate, I want to tell everybody that music is music, nobody needs to fight, and we should probably all get along. I wish the “Violent Blue” many happy shows, and good luck. Peace and love from Seattle!
This is too much….now ‘Angelo’ is going by the name “Sandi”….I hate to break it to you man, but I know the guys at The Comet…..and, apperantly, you begged for a time slot to play there with your ‘famous’ band early in the day before the real entertainment shows up….why are you lying online about being famous….name a single musician in Seattle that knows you as being famous from either playing gigs or selling music…name ANY musicion that you have sold a song to, or a record lable…provide links to the music to verify…if you sell music, there would be copywritten stuff online to verify….charity gigs? Are you serious?….list those events with the venues and the dates? Who are your band members? Funny, how you say you just did ‘research on your own”…lol…havent you had this ‘famous band’ for 14 years? ……you just did reaserch NOW? Oh and Angelo, I mean Sandi, I mean John Carter….when was your LAST gig???? Not a trace of Sh** online of you and THE VIOLENT BLUE playing at anytime, anywhere in Seattle, or elsewhere…and I live in Seattle man, your not fooling anybody, only embarrassing yourself in public….leave these guys who have talent and are gettin after it, alone.
Kevin, nice to hear from you. Not sure why you keep referring to me under other people’s names, I don’t even know who those people are. At any rate, I feel I responded to the other people’s emails with dignity, and grace. I am confused as to why you are so angry. A band name doesn’t matter, it can be changed easily, and “Violent Blue” does not belong to either of us. It’s a band from California that came out in 1986. They were actually pretty good, I like a few of their songs. I don’t think that a band would want the same name as another one, it would be confusing, and misleading to the fans. I had no idea about that band from Long Beach, I just found this information out. Needless to say, I will probably go with a different name just to respect them, and all they have accomplished. (Whether it be a little, or a lot) Your friends are welcome to keep their name, and I wish them the best in their musical endeavors! Take care, and sorry I offended you so much, that would be the last thing I would want. Have a wonderful weekend, and a great rest of your week. -Angelo
LOL…Maybe people on here are ‘referring to you under other people’s names” Mr. Delsenno because you came on here to bully these guys about the name of their band under TWO different names, telling them to change the name cause its so wierd that they took the oh so famous Angelo Delsenno’s band name???? lol… before having to actually use your real name cause you pis*** a few of us off so you had to try and make yourself look cool. FYI…its obvious that both John Carter and Sandi are you because you started both comments off with “UH….”!!!!! There is nothing online about you except for embarrassing low quality videos you made by yourself with christmas lights everywhere!!! You picked a fight with a young group of kids in a band old man!!!
Nicole, thank you for your constructive comments about my age. Very true, I am getting older, 34 yrs old now, and starting to feel it! My right knee hurts, and starting to lose a bit of hearing on the right side. That being said, let’s talk about copyright. One thing that your friends in “Violent Blue” failed to do is register with the U.S. Patent and Copyright Office. They actually have to register their band name, so that nobody can steal it, or use it. This is important, because it helps a band develop a fan base, and once they release an EP, they cannot be sued, or taken to court for copyright infringement damages. I checked with USPT, and the name Violent Blue (for a band) has already been taken. It sucks! Because now, I can’t use the name “The Violent Blue” for anything I put out that is published. (example, any album or recording that I sell.) If a band uses another band’s name, the original band is entitled to a percentage of that band’s album sales, or sales on ITunes, etc… (usually, it’s 10-15 percent, based on averages.) As far as bashing you, or saying mean things about your friend’s band, I refuse to. It’s not a clear reflection of my character, and I in no way want to hurt anybody’s feelings. To sum things up, I have already changed my band’s name, I felt that was a smart move, considering it has already with registered, and taken by the original “Violent Blue”, back in 1986. To finish, I would like to say that respect is something we should all give each other, it’s part of life, and a necessary ingredient for success in the music industry. Good luck to the Violent Blue, and their future EP that is coming out soon! You guys take care, -Angelo
P.S. It’s interesting that all of the mean comments said about me came from the same IP address. Here in Seattle, we are all very handy with our computers. Funny shit.
You’re only embarressing yourself more. This is NOT coming from the same ip address, or the same person…”handy with our computers”….hahaha!!! WTF is going to be published by you??? NOTHING! I thought you told us you had this band for a long time……NOW you are changing the name???? …and oh yeah….since you are trying so hard to save face WHERE THE HELL IS THE PROOF OF ALL THE SONGS YOU HAVE SOLD TO BANDS, LABLES, AND MUSCIANS?????? YOU HAVE SOLD SOOOOO MANY YOU TOLD THATS HOW YOU “PAY YOUR BILLS” SO WHERE ARE THESE SONGS??? WHAT???? YOU CANT PROVIDE US WITH THAT???? NO LINKS TO PROVE US WRONG FROM THE COMPUTER SAVVY ANGELO DELSENNO???? LOL….
We are respectful and supportive of Angelo Delsenno’s decision to change his band name, and we wish him the best of luck with his new band.

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two images. Maybe you could space it out better?
No way, Flagyl the Spamming Bagel. Not a chance!
